Location & Activities
Set on the outskirts of the small town of Uzel, both
properties are
secluded for privacy and yet close enough to the town centre to provide easy
access to its several interesting bars, restaurants, cafés & shops, in
addition to the necessary supermarkets and banks.
By
virtue of its fairly central position, Uzel is an ideal base from which to
explore the very best that Brittany offers. Local beauty spots include the Lac
de Guerlédan, a 400 hectare man-made lake on which sailing, fishing and other
water sports take place.
The properties are set in a south facing courtyard and are
surrounded by six acres of woodland and lawn. The natural peace and tranquillity
is complemented by the abundance of wildlife that resides here, whilst other
areas of the grounds offer room for family games and imaginative play for
children.
Some
nearby towns of interest include Quintin - with its 17th century Chateau, ruins,
ramparts and varied restaurants, Pontivy - with its medieval streets &
houses and Nantes-á-Brest canal. Further afield, towards Le Mont St. Michel and
St. Malo is the well known and beautifully preserved town of Dinan. We are
on the Côte D'Armor (coastal land) and the coastline stretches for over 250
kilometres. The north coast is only 20 minutes away by car with the Emerald
Coast - famous for its long, sandy beaches to the east of St. Brieuc and, to the
west, the beautiful Rose Granite coastline with small unspoilt beaches and rocky
headlands. The
South Coast is just as easily accessible. Vannes, on the Gulf of Morbihan, is
about one hours' drive from Uzel and the gateway to the more exotic Southern
Brittany beaches such as the resorts of Carnac and Quiberon. The climate and way
of life along this coastline compares favourably with the South of France. With
its palm trees, white sandy beaches and yachting marinas, this area is
particularly favoured by French vacationers.
